DIGITAL PROMOTIONal PAGES AND GLOBAL TEMPLATE DESIGN
Over the course of my career I spent quite a bit of time in Magazine Publishing holding multiple roles over the 9 years I spent at Hearst, in the Hearst Digital Media division and then later leading design as part of an in-house creative team within Hearst Magazines Consumer Marketing. I was able to build a lean team of designers supporting digital and print marketing initiatives and evolving the online brand experience. We worked across the 21-title Hearst Magazines portfolio on titles like Cosmopolitan, Elle, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s Bazaar, and Marie Claire, O, The Oprah Magazine and supporting new product launches and experimental marketing initiatives like subscription-boxes, apps, digital and print subscription bundles.
My team was always moving lightning-fast, producing everything from subscription driven creative campaigns to across site, email, display and in-book and seasonal sale assets to materials to support promotional contests and events for the magazines. As the design-lead I had a hand in all aspects of visual design–from UX/UI through content creation evolving the digital subscription process and working closely with marketing leads and producers to develop and test new responsive templates to work across all brands, seamlessly integrated with the Circules CMS.
An example of a desktop view of a responsive single title-gift subscription template featuring a three-part checkout process branded for Elle. The form templates all leveraged digital style libraries to automatically pull in the established brand colors and latest cover but could also be customized through the Circlues CMS to incorporate premiums and other add-ons. Below is an example of a multi-title subscription form.
So many of these projects are favorites of mine so it was hard not to include them all, but here is a selection of some of the subscription forms, sweepstakes promotions and landing pages I’ve created for some of the Hearst brands and products over the years.
